Before & After - My New Studio, featured on Domino today!

I had been looking for a studio for 5 years. There’s a feeling when you find “the one” and none of them were it. Dropped ceilings, no windows, old carpet I wasn’t allowed to remove, you name it….they were all, well, gross. The thing is, I can deal with yucky things if I can see the potential, it’s what I do for a living! But, the space has to speak to you. Last winter, I found that space, finally! 15 minutes from my house and 30 minutes from my daughters school, views of the river, TONS of light, 400 square feet, high ceilings, an awesome landlord and a plethora of fellow creatives in the building. I WAS IN.

When I walked in the space was bare bones. The studio is in an old Mill building and was completely raw. The wing that my studio is in, is mostly artist studios, looking to get messy without consquences. Paint drips on the floor, no biggy….that kind of place. But, I needed something more polished….so I negotiated with the landlord, I would pay a little bit more and he would renovate it for me while he was doing work on another wing of the building. It took him a few months to start, and we agreed I would move in July 2019.

July finally came, the empty shell was ready, and then MY work began. View the full story of my DIY’s on Domino today!

Latest Project + DIY Tufted Headboard

Hey lovelies!  It's been so long since I've written and I've been so missing connecting with you.  I'm hoping to get more regular with the blogging in the coming months.  I wanted to give you a sneak peek into my latest project, but also wanted to share with you my latest DIY project, how to make your own tufted headboard. I've made quite a few headboards in my day, but never have I before tackled a tufted headboard.  I wanted to make one for my latest client because I knew it would completely transform his bedroom.  I watched all the DIY videos on you tube...and to be quite honest, most of them sucked.  They were made with flimsy materials or the tufting was done poorly and when I deliver a piece to a client, it has to be perfect.  Because in the end, every bit of work I do is a reflection on me, right?  So...I did some more digging, some more you tubing and finally found a video worth watching.  And guess what?  So random, but this woman's business is actually in my town!  It's got over 300,000 views, and it's because it's awesome.  So....I recommend you follow my tips below if you'd like to try making your own, but ALSO watch her video.  You can view it here.

In the meantime....here's that sneak peek I promised you.  My client lives in NYC, he's an entrepreneur and always traveling. It was really important to me to make his home a true reflection of who he is, his style...so when he comes home it feels like a breathe of fresh air.  It's clean, modern, comfort with sleek, stylish and artistic accents = so him.  :)

Enjoy!  And as always, please "share" and "like" if you enjoy and leave your comments below.  I LOVE hearing from you!

xoxo
